The National Historic Oregon Trail Center near Baker City is one of the byway's most popular manmade attractions.
Several
rivers and lakes along the byway provide ample opportunities for fishing,
rafting and jet boat rides. You can even ride a train to remote steelhead fishing holes, www.minammotel.com, or raft down the Wallowa River and ride a train back to your launch site, www.windingwatersrafting.com.
