As we approach Thanksgiving and slide into the Holiday season, it’s nice to hear about all of the fun entertainment and activities community groups are planning for cold winter days. Christmas parades, holiday open houses, craft shows and workshops are bountiful along the byway.
For instance, on Sunday, December 15 and Saturday, December 21, there will be a “Settler’s Tea” program at the National Historic Oregon Trail Interpretive Center near Baker City. From 1 to 3 p.m. each day, costumed interpreters in a frontier style home setting will provide light refreshments and opportunities to learn pioneer crafts.
The always amazing “Holiday Music Festival” takes place in at McKenzie Theatre on the EOU campus in La Grande, December 7, at 7:30 p.m. and December 8, at 3 p.m. Showcasing the university’s award-winning music department, the popular concert features the EOU Fiddle Ensemble, Women’s Choir, Chamber Choir, Jazz Ensemble and Drumline, the EOU Community Symphonic Band and the Grande Ronde Community Chorus.
Catch the Charles Dickens classic, “A Christmas Carol” at the Iron Gate Theater in Basche-Sage Place on Main Street in Baker City, November 29 & 30 and December 1. Or, enjoy a hometown holiday festival at the Enterprise Winterfest Celebration in Enterprise, December 13 & 14.
