BAKER CITY, OREGON__Trail Tenders’ 2015 Run to the Ruts takes place Saturday, June 6, at the National Historic Oregon Trail Interpretive Center, near Baker City. This fund-raising race is for the whole family and it happens on a free fee day at the Trail Center. The Trail Center is located at 22267 Hwy 86, five miles east of Baker City, Oregon.
“Run to the Ruts” is a Challenging 10K (6.2miles) Run or 5K (3.1 mile) Run/Walk. The 10K Run and the 5K Run/walk start at 9 a.m., with the walkers lining up behind the runners. The route is a mixture of gravel road, paved trails and dirt trails, with several tight curves and an elevation change of approximately 430 feet. Water, juice, fruit, and bagels will be available and breakfast burritos will be served to participants at the finish of the race. Prizes will be awarded and all participants receive a medallion.
Register before May 21, to be guaranteed a shirt. Go to trailtenders.org to registration online or to print out a form that may be mailed to Trail Tenders Inc., PO Box 987, Baker City, OR 97814. Registration is available until race time the day of the race, June 6, 2015.
Runners/Walkers pay an entry fee of $15, for the event. Race packets will be available to pick up at the Oregon Trail Interpretive Center lobby on event day, June 6, starting at 7:45 a.m.
