Baker City Hosts Ceramic Arts Exhibit From Montana

Hells Canyon Scenic Byway > Events > Baker City Hosts Ceramic Arts Exhibit From Montana

Beginning July 6, Crossroads Carnegie Art Center in Baker City, welcomes “Persistence in Clay: Contemporary Ceramics in Montana”, a national traveling art exhibition from the Missoula Art Museum celebrating the 60th Anniversary of the Archie Bray Foundation.

While many regions of the United States are known for their mastery of other mediums, in Montana, the ceramic arts are the touchstone of art and culture. This exhibition provides a snapshot of the world-class activity that is happening in the state today.

Baker City is the only Pacific Northwest stop of this show funded by National Endowment of the Arts, WESTAF(Western States Art Federation) and the Paul G. Allen Family Foundation. This show features 19 of the finest contemporary ceramics artists from the State of Montana and the Montana school of pottery.

Crossroads has expanded service this summer, open Monday-Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday is open by appointment only for groups of six or more. The show, on display until August 31, is free to the public. Donations are appreciated.
