A Note Concerning Wild Fires and Your Visit

Hells Canyon Scenic Byway > Alerts > A Note Concerning Wild Fires and Your Visit

The tourism industry of Eastern Oregon extends its heartfelt concern for the residents, and communities that have been impacted by the recent wildfires throughout the region including, and especially those that have endured loss of property, and in some cases livelihood.

However, visitors to the east side of Oregon should be aware that most events and attractions are still operating and looking forward to serving those who are traveling to, and throughout the region. Please keep in mind in some areas residents that have been displaced due to the fires are utilizing local lodging accommodations. Your patience will be appreciated, so please call ahead to reconfirm your reservations.

We ask that everyone visiting recognize the extreme fire conditions and check with US Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, Oregon Department of Parks & Recreation, and Oregon Department of Forestry for regulations regarding recreation on public lands. Conditions change rapidly and are updated daily by these land agencies. It is our hope that if you do have to postpone your vacation to Eastern Oregon, that you will return in the near future and assist the tourism industry in rebuilding the economy of the region.
