Ladd Marsh Birdathon Hosts Plein Air Painting

Hells Canyon Scenic Byway > Events > Ladd Marsh Birdathon Hosts Plein Air Painting

Arts East is delighted to have been asked back to participate in the 11th Annual Ladd Marsh Bird Festival! They will once again collaborate with Friends of Ladd Marsh and the Oregon Department of Fish & Wildlife to help promote and celebrate birds, birding, and the natural beauty of the Ladd Marsh Wildlife Area through THE ARTS!

The Ladd Marsh Bird Festival is May 13, 14, & 15 and the Plein Air painting event is scheduled for Saturday, May 14, from 9 a.m. to Noon. For more information on the Ladd Marsh Bird Festival, please visit Friends of Ladd Marsh at http://friendsofladdmarsh.org/bird-festival-2/bird-festival/

There are six “Host Sites” throughout Ladd Marsh Wildlife Area that are designated for bird watching. Each Host Site will be staffed with an experienced birder to point out birds/wildlife and answer questions from the public. Arts East is looking for artists who would like to spend a few hours Saturday morning painting and visiting with birders and the public at these designated Host Sites. Each site can host several artists and most of them are located near restrooms (port-a-potty).

Parking is free to visitors all day. Artists should bring a snack, plenty of water, and be prepared for spring weather in May (rain, sun, or maybe snow showers!?). Last year, the visitors enjoyed the company of 8 artists. Please let me know as soon as possible if you would like to be a part of the Plein Air event at this year’s Ladd Marsh Bird Festival.

Please contact Mika Morton, 541-962-3629 or mika@artseast.org, at Art Center East on the Eastern Oregon University campus if you have any questions or to sign up for the Plein Air event at this year’s Ladd Marsh Bird Festival. Learn more about Arts east at www.artseast.org.
